Apple just released the iPhone 14 lineup along with new Watches and AirPods

Here's everything you need to know...

After months of rumours, speculation and leaks, Apple has just announced their iPhone 14 lineup, along with some improvements to AirPods Pro and the Apple Watch Series 8, SE and new Ultra.

Launched this morning at Apple's "Far out" event, which can be watched here. The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus were revealed alongside the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.

With Apple ditching the iPhone mini series, swapping it out with a Plus version, matching the same 6.7" screen size as the iPhone's recent Pro Max versions.

Most notable features of the 14 and 14 Plus models are the increased battery life, 12 Megapixel main camera, 49% improvement for low-light capture, advanced stabilisation mode called Action Mode and crash detection.

The iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max feature a new pill-shaped display cutout called the Dynamic Island, a faster A16 Bionic chip and an Always-On Display. Additionally introducing big improvements to the cameras, offering 48-megapixel photos, 3 times better low-light performance, a new 4k 30fps video mode and Action Mode.

All new models will feature highly-rumoured emergency messaging through satellites, allowing people to send texts for help outside traditional cellular phone service range. To achieve this, the phone's antennas can connect to satellite frequencies.

Notifications and alerts will adapt and move around the pill-shaped Dynamic Island, exclusive to both Pro and Pro Max models. Enhanced via software to include notifications and other app information.

Preorders start this Friday (September 9) at 10PM AEST with the iPhone 14, Pro and Pro Max available for purchase from September 16 and iPhone 14 Plus from October 7.

Apple Watch saw some nifty improvements with the Series 8, SE and new Apple Watch Ultra. All new models feature temperature sensors, crash detection, and a low power mode, extending the watch's battery life to 36 hours.

Low power mode will also be available for people with Apple Watch Series 4 and above when watchOS 9 releases next Monday, September 12.

The Apple Watch Ultra is made from an aerospace-grade titanium case and features a more rugged and durable design. Offering a 49mm screen size, the brightest Apple Watch display (two times brighter than previous models), a bigger, more useful Digital Crown and up to 60 hours of battery life. Apple says the Apple Watch Ultra has enough battery life for users to complete a Ironman triathlon, consisting of a 3.9-km swim, 180-km bike ride, and full marathon at roughly 42 kilometres.

All new models of the Apple Watch are available for order now!

And finally, but not least, the AirPods Pro saw some improvements, with Apple announcing improved sound quality and 2x better noise cancellation. The new AirPods Pro's new low-distortion audio driver and custom amplifier create "richer bass" and "crystal-clear sound across a wider range of frequencies."

One significant feature of the new AirPods is the ability to adjust volume with swipes on the stem, meaning users won't need to reach for their connected device to adjust the volume. AirPods Pro will also come with an improved charging case that offers Find My support and a built-in speaker, making them much easier to locate. You can now also charge the case on an Apple Watch charger.
