The World Cup is finally complete after more than a month of high-quality T20 cricket across all of Australia except Canberra and the NT who for some reason missed out on any matches in this tournament.
The Top Edge Podcast was again on hand to break down all of the cricket news from the week, including the Glenn Maxwell broken leg and some of the massive performances from the WBBL.
The big discussion point of the week though is of course the T20 World Cup and England's win over Pakistan thanks to a match-winning performance with the bat from Ben Stokes as well as some excellent bowling by Sam Curran and Adil Rashid.
In basketball, the 'clutch' player is defined as 'consistently performing well when there's a lot on the line. They thrive in situations where the pressure is high and the consequences of their performance are great. Hitting a shot when your team is winning by double digits is easier than hitting a game-winning shot at the buzzer.'
While there is no buzzer-beater in cricket, Ben Stokes has proven time and time again that he is the player that steps up in the big moments for England to win games when needed.
That wasn't always the case though, we can of course think back to the 2016 World Cup where Ben Stokes was taken down by Carlos Braithwaite to give the West Indies the trophy over England.
Since then Stokes has gone to a new level across all three formats whether that be a world record double century in South Africa in 2016 or more recently his Headingly performance against Australia.
The obvious performance is of course his 84 from 98 balls in the 2019 World Cup final to give England the win on boundary count back.
His run-a-ball innings in 2022 won't go down in history as the best-looking or quickest knock but to access the situation and realise that he was the man to win the match for England in a tricky position was incredibly impressive.
It was such a good performance England is even trying to convince him to come out of ODI retirement ahead of the 2023 World Cup. He is certainly one of the all-time greats.
