Edge of the Crowd's Fiction book for the month of January is popular 2021 book Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid.

This month's fiction book for theEdge of the Crowd's Book Club is the New York Times bestseller,Malibu Risingby Taylor Jenkins Reid.

The book takes place in August of 1983, as Nina Riva and her siblings Jay, Hud and Kit throw the highly anticipated end of summer party at Nina's Malibu home. The Rivas are a fascinating and well-known family in Malibu the four siblings are the children of legendary singer Mick Riva, everyone wants to go to the End of Summer Party.

Nina is a supermodel, Jay is a champion surfer, Hud is a photographer then there's the youngest Kit.

The only person not looking forward to the party is Nina herself who has never liked being the centre of attention and with her tennis star husband publicly walking out the door, all eyes will be on her.

The book takes place over the day of the party as well as flashbacks to when Mick met the kids mum, June.

Malibu Risinghas been a popular read in 2021, with Taylor Jenkins Reid already being a well-known author for her books includingThe Seven Husbands of Evelyn HugoandDaisy Jones and the Six.

Malibu Risingalso has connections withThe Seven Husbands with Evelyn Hugowhich many fans of Jenkins Reid have been quick to pick up on social media.

With the book being a popular choice on booktok, we felt like it was a great choice for our first fiction book.

The book itself has that summer vibe to it which was another reason to make this book our fiction read of the month.

The book has also been picked up and is currently in development for a series, with the book getting picked up before the books release to the public.
